Gian-Luca Cavigelli has won the season's fourth big air of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup thus clinching his career's first World Cup win. The 21-years-old Swiss successfully competed against the strong international field by earning 52.4 points in front of 50,000 spectators on the Gwanghwamum square. Stefan Gimpl (AUT, 51.2) who still sits on the first spot of the World Cup ranking and reigning World Champion Markku Koski from Finland (50.4) rounded out the first big air podium on the Asian continent as second and third respectively.

Alena Zavarzina (RUS) and Jasey Jay Anderson (CAN) have won the season's second Parallel Giant Slalom of the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup in Telluride, Colorado, USA. The Russian edged off Marion Kreiner from Austria in the ladies final thus securing her career's first ever World Cup win. In the Austrian battle for third, Ina Meschik crossed the finish line ahead of Heidi Neururer. On the men's side, it was Canada's Jasey Jay Anderson who relegated his fellow countryman Michael Lambert to the runner-up spot. Rok Flander (SLO) rounded out the podium by winning over 2006 Olympic Silver medallist Simon Schoch (SUI) in the duel for third.

Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli and Matthew Morison have secured victory in the first Parallel Giant Slalom of the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. The Swiss rider successfully competed against current World Cup leader Amelie Kober from Germany in the ladies' final of the race which was scheduled for the cancelled event in Limone Piemonte, Italy. In the battle for third it was Kimiko Zakreski (CAN) who crossed the finish line ahead of Austria's Claudia Riegler. On the men's side, Canada's Matthew Morison also relegated the bearer of the yellow World Cup leader jersey, Benjamin Karl (AUT), to the second spot. Mathieu Bozzetto (FRA) who edged off Andreas Prommegger from Austria in the small final rounded out the podium as third.

In the season's second SBX final of the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup, Canada's Maelle Ricker relegated Swiss Simona Meiler, Dominique Maltais (CAN) and Mellie Francon (SUI) to the second to fourth spot respectively. On the men's side, Vaultier clinched his career's seventh World Cup win on the 1,020 metres long course due to outstanding passing manoeuvres. Robert Fagan from Canada came in second while 2002 Olympic Halfpipe Champion Ross Powers (USA) rounded out the podium as third. Top qualifier David Bakes (CZE) had do settle for the fourth rank after crashing in the final.

The World Cup week in Telluride, USA, wrapped up today with the second ever Snowboard Cross team race in the history of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. In the last event of an action-packed World Cup debut in Colorado in which two riders made up a team in order to race together, it was Lindsey Jacobellis and Faye Gulini (both USA) on the ladies side and Xavier Delerue and Pierre Vaultier (both FRA) on the men's side who came out victorious on the 1.020 metres long course built on Misty Maiden slope. The two US girls just edged Canada's Maelle Ricker and Dominique Maltais in a photo finish to the runner-up spot. Switzerland's Simona Meiler and Tanja Frieden came in third. On the men's side, USA's very own Nick Baumgartner and Nate Holland as well as Canada's Mike Robertson and Drew Neilson rounded out the podium as second and third respectively.

Eigentlich hat ja der Dachstein Xtreme den Ruf als das härteste Tourenski-Rennen der Ostalpen, durch die Überschreitung des rund 3000 Meter hohen Dachstein Gipfels. Durch die Streckverlegung wurde zwar die Schwierigkeit des Bewerbes ein wenig gemindert, trotzdem waren auf der Lang-Distanz noch immer 1650 Höhenmeter und auf der Kurz-Distanz 1150 Höhenmeter, mit zahlreichen Wechseln und einer Tragepassage, zu überwinden. Über 180 Athleten und Athletinnen aus 16 Nationen stellten sich der Herausforderung, denn der Dachstein Xtreme wurde heuer immerhin wieder als Weltcup Rennen ausgetragen (Finale Weltcup Single). Der neue Verlauf am Fuße der mächtigen Dachstein-Südwand erwies sich aber als eine durchaus würdige Weltcupstrecke und wurde von den Teilnehmern sehr positiv bewertet.

The new season of the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup kicks off like the last two years – with a halfpipe competition “down under”. For the third consecutive time, the world’s top freestylers open the winter in the 22-foot-halfpipe in Cardrona. A total of about 130 riders coming from more than 20 nations vie for the first World Cup points and the honour to place on the podium in New Zealand – at one out of four Halfpipe World Cups counting for the qualification road to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
